From The President

Hello.  I’m Bob Rajewski, President of the Arcadia Police Officers Association.  Thank you for visiting our website; we hope you enjoy your visit and come back often.

The Arcadia POA is the union that represents the Police Officers and Police Sergeants that work for the Arcadia Police Department.  You may ask why we need a union.  After all, we are working for our community and have the same interests.

We work together with the City of Arcadia to reach a mutual agreement regarding wages, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.

Just like you, we want the best for our members.  We are aware of what it takes by way of pay and benefits to attract and keep the top recruits in our profession.  In order to do that, it is important that we offer a competitive compensation package.  Arcadia deserves nothing less than the best.

The union also acts as a representative of individual members who may have an issue that needs to be addressed by the Police Department Administration or City Hall.  Think about how you would feel if you had to face your employer alone if you had a legitimate grievance.  Wouldn’t you like the support of being represented by someone who has the experience and resources in dealing with your supervisor?

Finally, we are a social group with a deep-seated desire to do good in our community.  If you read our history, you will see that for the longest time we were called a benevolent association.   We took care of ourselves, our friends, and our neighbors in the City.  Today, we continue to support causes that benefit the citizens of Arcadia, such as the Albert Mathies Scholarship.  This scholarship is awarded every year to the Arcadia High School student that has excelled in academic achievement and volunteer work in the community.  The APOA also makes donations to events that bring the community together in the belief that we are not only about crime, but we are about the enhancement of living and doing business in Arcadia.

I look forward to seeing you in the future.  Make sure that you say “hello” to that officer patrolling on your street.  He or she is a member of the APOA, and like the APOA, is here for you.
